Fun with Hearts

Hello Everyone! Happy Wednesday! I must admit, I am not the biggest fan of Valentine's day, mainly because it is my husband's birthday and I want it to just be his birthday... But, I set aside my "eh - ness" and made a Valentine's day card. I do love this dp, and I do love this frog! ** Inspiration alert!! ** I got the idea to have the frog holding up the circle & heart from my fellow CDS DT member, the very talented Barb. I just thought it was such a clever idea I had to try it!

My favorite weekly challenge has to be Sweet Sketch Wednesday, the ladies there are so great, both in their creative inspirations and their kind comments.

Not suprisingly, this card follows the Sweet Sketch Wednesday #88 sketch.

This card also qualifies for a few other challenges, so what the heck, I will throw my hat in the ring for a few more challenges.

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #111

Hi Everyone! Happy Sunday! Yesterday, I finally got to spend some time in the craft room, and it was just the therapy I needed. "Life" has been effecting me a bit more than normal the last couple days, so some paper therapy is just what I need.
Today, I am sharing this cute couple of Cuppies to share with you, which I made for the Taylored Expressions Sketch challenge #111. This image is actually just part of a larger stamped image. I cut the size of circle nestabilities that I needed and featured only the sweet & loving couple of cuppies.  This card also qualifies for the challenge at Stampin Royalty challenge #17 which is to use our punches. I used my scallop edge punch.

The Pink Elephant #53 - Mushy Gushy Valentine + a bonus!

Today's Pink Elephant Challenge is to make a "mushy gushy valentine" and to be perfectly honest, I was not so inspired to break out the stamp & ink. Maybe because Valentine's day just happens to be my husband's birthday and he just happens to be deployed (again) this year. So, I had planned on passing on this challenge... Until this awesome stamp set came in today's mail from Stepping Stones Designs Stamps. You may be questioning my choice in stamp for a "mushy gushy valentine". Well, here's my thinking: Just about all of us look like this when we get up in the morning. And yet, despite this "give me my coffee" look, our husband's love us all the same. And that, ladies, is the real love on Valentine's Day, and that is why this stamp inspired me for a "

"mushy gushy valentine".

Raise the Bar challenge #4 - Hearts & Truly Scrumptious Sketch #25

Hi again! Second post for today. I guess I was on a roll! This one I made for the Raise the Bar Challenge, which this week is to include hearts on a card and for the sketch challenge at Truly Scrumptious. I kept wanting to add more and more to this, and as you can see, I added an awful lot. ha ha.. It was also very hard for me to only color in those love monkeys, I have a hard time leaving things un-colored. OCCC Masculine Valentine's Day Card

Hello! This weekend at Our Creative Corner, the challenge is to make a masculine valentine's card. Talk about a challenge! My husband is not a "card guy" He supports my habit - err I mean hobby,  but isnt really interested in the card itself. And to top it off, Valentine's day just happens to be my husband's birthday, (I know, how sweet, right?) So I always want to focus on his birthday vs the "holiday" itself. Either way, he isnt all that interested in Birthday cards or Valentine's day cards, so, despite that, I thought of him as I made this card. I used the sketch challenge at Card Patterns for inspiration along with my husband and the OCC theme. Thanks for stopping by today! I would love to hear what you think!

Kindergarten Valentine's Day

Something was wrong with me today ... I got the idea for the Valentine's cards the other day when I found this club-sized box of fruit roll ups at Target... and today I decided I would "start" on the cards, just cutting the cardstock and maybe stamping the images. Welp, as you can see, I had the problem of not being able to stop once I got started.

I stamped Loads of Love and Boatloads of Love (su) on whisper white cardstock and colored them with my prismacolor pencils.I used the Masking technique to fit the heart into the back of the boat/truck, which is the challenge at the ABC Challenge. Now, I started with doing alot of detailed coloring, then, realizing these are for kindergartners, I forced myself to hold back on the coloring just a bit. I used my Word Window to punch out 24 strips and stamped 12 with the "friend-ship" sentiment from the Boatloads of Love set, and "happy valentine's day" is from Teeny Tiny Wishes (su)

Finally, I simply stapled the little 3 1/4 x 2 3/4" card to the front of the Fruit by the Foot package. All in all, this was a very inexpensive Valentine's project. And it can be as easy as you want it to be. Since the cards are so small, it takes just a few sheets of cardstock, and as much work and imagination you feel like expending on your precious kiddos!
