The Color Dare # 62

Hello! Can you believe we are at the end of March already? Tomorrow is April 1st .. I cant believe how fast time seems to be going by!! Well, even though spring is upon us here in the desert southwest, I did make a Christmas/ Winter card for this week's color dare. These awesome colors are among my favorite color combos, and they remind me of Christmas at the same time. Besides, it is a good idea to make a Christmas card here and there throught the year as to avoid the year-end crunch when it comes to Christmas cards!
Ok, so you have seen my Christmas inspired card, let's see what you come up with using these Color Dare Colors: Baja Breeze, Ruby Red & Whisper White.
Details:
Stamps: Charlie Snowhorse (CDStamps)
Paper: Baja Breeze, Ruby Red, Whisper White, Holiday Lounge dsp
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Baja Breeze, Ruby Red
Tools/Accessories: Lg Circle & Lables 9 Nestabilities, Little Felt Flurries,
Ruby Red & White Brads, Sponge, Aqua Painter

There She Goes List Challenge TSG48

Last weekend, my son and I went to the outlet mall, and every time I go out there, I like to stroll around the Coach store just to look, basically making sure there isnt a handbag that I "must have". Lately, that has been the case. But, last weekend, there was a super cute bag that I really wanted, but my budget said NO. So, instead of dreaming of a handbag that wasnt meant to be, I found this adorable stamp set from MFT called Totally Fabulous. And, it was on sale! So, not only did I get my handbag fix with a stamp set, but it was on sale. What more can you ask for? HAHA...

I paired a couple of challenges with this card. First, the sketch at Our Creative Corner, and the second, the list challenge at There She Goes. The list challenge is this:
3 different colors:(I chose)Black, Rose Red & Bermuda Bay
2 different dp:(I chose) Rose Red dsp & Night and Day dsp
1 button: I got this button from one of the extras off a shirt
1 ribbon:(I chose) Bermuda Bay
no other embellishments.

I paper pieced the skirt with Rose Red dsp, and her shirt with textured black cs. I added glossy accents to her handbag to give it a patent leather effect. I also used a very vanilla watercolor wonder crayon to give the effect of a store front window.

Details:
Stamps: Totally Fabulous (MFT)
Paper: Bermuda Bay, Rose Red, Rose Red dsp,
Night & Day dsp Watercolor
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black
Coloring Medium: Prismacolors
Tools/Accessories: Bermuda Bay Ribbon, misc button, word window,
Ticket corner punch, scallop edge punch,
Very vanilla crayon, Glossy Accents
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you like what you see!

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #106

Hi Everyone! It has been a beautiful Sunday here in the desert southwest! Finally a break from the wind and blowing sand! I made this card for the sketch challenge at Taylored Expressions, believe it or not, it actually took me two days to get it done! Ha ha.. Anyway, this card also qualifies for the Raise the Bar#11 challenge, which is "April Fool -  show a style you dont normally do" What qualifies this card as an april fool is the fact that I did not color in the kissing cuppies on the 'movie screen'. I never leave things uncolored!
The movieish accents are from a stamp set from My Favorite Things called Chick Flick. The two sets just tied together perfectly!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you like what you see!
Details:
Stamps: Cuppie Love Scenes (TE)
Chick Flick (MFT)
Paper: Feb Key Ingredients Kit, Watercolor
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black,

Clearly Inspired Challenge # 10 -- Sketch

I am so happy it's Friday. Not because of the typical reasons .. because (every other)  Friday means its time for the Clearly Inspired Challenge over at ClearlyiStamp. This time around the talented ladies at CIC have a very intriguing sketch to challenge us. This week, I was inspired by the sample made by my BFF, Cassie. So much so, in fact, that I texted her to make sure it was ok if I use the same chipboard piece as she did, as well as the same collection of dp. She graciously agreed, and I was off to work on the challenge. Thankfully, our cards did turn out different, so it isnt blatently obvious that I nearly copied her. LOL.

After some deliberation, I chose one of my most favorite stamps, Walk in the Park, Clear Dollar's May 2009 stamp of the month. I chose this particular dp to mirror the center circles which I covered in coordinating dp. As a final touch, I added the leaf adorned pins to tie it all together.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you like what you see and will come back again!

Details:
Stamps: Walk in the Park (CDS),
Shining Strength-sentiment (CDS)
Paper: Crate Paper Brook dp, chocolate textured cs,

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Crushed Curry

Truly Scrumptious Challenge #28

Last night, my new Stampin Up Watercolor Wonder Crayons arrived, and I just could not wait to try them out! I went ahead and ordered both Earth Elements and Neutrals, hoping for the best. And, even though I know I need more practice, I am happy with my first try with this new coloring medium!
I was inspired by the March Key Ingredients Kit as well as the Truly Scrumptious challenge #28 sketch. I had alot of fun with the crayons, although it is a bit challenging to color in small details, but with more practice I am sure I will get it. I used very vanilla for the toadstool and whisper white to highlight the fly's wings. Thank you so much for stopping by! Your comments are grately appreciated!

Raise the Bar challenge #10 " Fruit of Labor "

Hello! Happy weekend! Today I have two cards to share with you today. I made this one for the Raise the Bar challenge, which this week is to feature fruit on your project.  I have to say, I was stumped. I had nothing, and thought I would have to pass on the challenge this week. Then, as if a lightbulb actually lit up above my head, I remembered these sticky chipboard fruits from the Nook & Pantry collection. The sentiment is from the MFT "how sweet it is" stamp set, it just seemed perfect with the strawberry & pear.

Connor's Spring Break Craft Project

In the hopes of having a somewhat productive spring break (which is 2 weeks long) I got my 6 year old this cute zoo kit from Target. All the zoo animals are wooden with stiff rope legs and Connor got to cut out felt accents, glue all the pieces together and add his special artistic touch with the coloring. He really enjoyed this project, and I really like how it turned out and I thought it would be fun to share it with all of my blogging crafting friends.

The king cobra, a lion, a monkey and a giraffe are all present and accounted for at Connor's zoo.  Thank you so much for stopping by, I know Connor will really appreciate your comments!

Happy Mail PTW36

Who doesnt love happy mail? Everyone loves happy mail! There is nothing like opening up the mailbox to find a hand addressed envelope with what you know has happy mail enclosed. This is why I love the postal service so much! (not that they havent been trying my patience of late .. ) But, you cant beat that warm-fuzzy feeling you get when happy mail makes its way into your mailbox. In fact, just today, I got not one, but two happy mail suprises! One from my BFF, and one from my cousin who lives in Kansas! Sweet! So, those two suprises and the sketch challenge at PaperTake Weekly, inspired me to make this card. That, and I really liked the bendy arrows on the dp and how well it pairs with the 'snail-man'. hee hee "snail-man".. I crack myself up!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Seems the trend for this week is GREEN, in 'honor' of St. Patrick's Day. Good thing I like a good green! This card is one that kind of had a mind of its own, and after some head-scratching, I am happy with how it turned out. Turns out, it qualifies for three challenges! First is the sketch at the Our Creative Corner Sketch Blog. I did end up omiting two minor details of the sketch, but I just could not bring myself to cover up that neat Material Girl dp any more than I absolutely had to! The second is Raise the Bar #9, "Go Green", and the third, Stamp Something's "Cream & Green".
I so appreciate your visit! Thank you!

I hope you all like it as much as I do!

My new MFT stamp Debut ... Chick Flick

So I went back and forth on whether or not to post this one ... I was just messing around with the stamp this afternoon.. trying to paper piece the couch and the shirts and well, as you can see, not alot of paper piecing made it onto the stamped image! I will have to try to paper piece the couch another time, wouldnt it look so cute with a pattern or print?  This card actually does have two challenges in mind, one, the Truly Scrumptious sketch which sorta I turned on its side since my image is landscape vs portrait. Part of the sketch was to make it "Good enough to eat" Popcorn is definately good! The second is Stamp Something -- Something Girly. Now, I am not the "girliest" girl, especially when my husband is deployed, But, I do like cute girly pjs (that match) and hanging out with my bff, so this card fits the "something girly" challenge -- to me anyway!

The other is the sketch challenge at Our Creative Corner. I made the card 4 1/2 x 4 1/2, which I think worked great with this sketch:

Taylored Expressions # 103 and Color Throwdown#82

Hello! Happy Sunday! Today has been a gorgeous sunny and warm day in the desert southwest! After church, I enjoyed my day redesigning and replanting one of my flowerbeds.  I actually made this card last night and since the sun is setting behind the Franklin Mountains, I will take some time and sit down and post this card. I made this card with two challenges in mind. The first, the Color Throwdown #82 challenge, which is to use Not Quite Navy, Ruby Red, Old Olive and Very Vanilla.  I just love these colors together! It just might be the best of the earth elements color family! The second challenge is the sketch over at Taylored Expressions. I am not sure if a taylored expressions stamp is required but, since I only (as of now) have one Taylored Expressions stamp and I have used it kind of alot lately, I decided to just participate anyway using one of  Clear Dollar Stamps March new releases.
I paper pieced Charliene's robe twice actually, once for the ruby red trim, and another time for the robe itself. Oh yeah, not to forget the bunny slippers! They are paper pieced as well.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
